Post What’s so funny?
Did you ever make (or hear) a comment that you just thought was hilarious but no one else laughed? Or suggested a movie because you thought it was really funny only to have the person you suggested it to tell you it was the “most unfunny” movie they had ever seen (This happened to me with The Princess Bride)?

What movie, television show, and/or person (or anything I missed) best defines your sense of humor?

My choices are (in no particular order)

Douglas Adams…
Quote:
“There is a theory which states that if anybody ever discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

Office Space…
Quote:
“Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler...”

Family Guy…
Quote:
Chris: “What do you do at a Young Republicans meeting?”
Alyssa: “We help those who already have the means to help themselves. Also, we perpetuate the idea that Jesus chose America to destroy non-believers and brown people.”
Chris: “I don't know why, but I feel safer already.”

Each of the examples you gave hits my funny bone right on the, uh, nose. Family Guy kills me, and Douglas Adams was a genius. Princess Bride isn't one of my favorites, but probably only because I haven't given it a proper viewing.

Here's what's making me laugh lately.

The opening to Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon movie Film For Theaters (language and content warning). I saw this in the theater by myself. And I found it so funny that I thought I was going to die laughing. Everyone I have shown it to has chuckled politely and then backed away slowly. Same goes for the rest of the ATHF canon.

Squidbillies, from the creators of ATHF. Very, very weird.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! is a modern Monty Python. Very weird, very funny.

I'm laughing so hard at the "Aqua teen hunger force" thing I'm afraid to click on the other two! I have no idea why I found it so hilarious, but part of it may be that the boys across the street have a pick-up band that sounds a LOT like these guys. They practice every Sunday afternoon (after church, no doubt :). I find them pretty hilarious, too, though--like "Aqua teen"--the words are (mercifully) unintelligible without subtitles. (There's a lot of what can only be described as howling! I have no idea why it isn't irritating--could it be fond memories of listening to other boys practicing?)

I have never seen any of the adult swim shows but I have been told (by people who get me) that some are very funny. As far as "the opening to Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon movie Film For Theaters" you can consider me chuckling politely and backing away slowly. ;-)
